They obviously don't want to sell cars. Or maybe just not to me. Either way, they don't value your time. You're a number to them.
I walked into their sales building and stood in the main lobby for ~8 minutes, with people just walking right by me. I made eye contact with every single one of the associates I saw and was asked once if I had already been helped, at which time I said no.
Eventually, a sales representative named Tradee Sewell (this was his first day, I later learned) talked to me. I expressed my interest in purchasing a corvette from them.
After a conversation where I both said that I'm interested in the vehicle they have, and would like to test drive it, he was asked if I would consider anything else. I told him that I would be interested in purchasing a older model, as that body style appeals to me, but that I liked the white stingray they had in stock.
I guess this is on me, as I didn't explicitly state that I'd be able to purchase the vehicle outright. I guess this guy just assumed that I wasn't serious about making a sale. This guy's overall tone was dismissive.
After 30 minutes of my time, getting absolutely nowhere with this representative, and asking multiple times if I could test drive the one they had, even though it wasn't the exact one I wanted, I wasn't explicitly told "no" but the meeting ended. I then drove off. It appeared as though he had several things lined up to say to me, so they could prevent a test drive.
Granted, he did ask me how quickly I wanted one, and I did tell him that I would wait up to 2 months for the right one, BUT that I am interested in the one they have.
I'm not a confrontational person, but there was a point in our conversation where I said verbatim "I'd really just like to get behind the wheel of one to figure out if I like it or not" and we both just stared at each other for a solid 3 seconds, after which he went back to looking at his computer. He then changed the subject. Seriously?
They could've completed a sale today. I already called ahead and pre approved an $150k charge to my amex in preparation, but obviously that too was a waste of time. I don't know if this guy profiled me based on how I look/what I do, but it felt like that. He had some odd reactions to my answers for what I do for work and what I drove to the dealership that day.
He called my truck, a 1988 c1500, a "gas hog" and I almost wanted to correct him that it's for a good reason as it has been LS7 swapped, but I bit my tongue and tried to get the show back on the road.
This isn't meant as a "they didn't know I had money" statement, all I'm saying is that perhaps when a young man walks into a dealership with their eyes on an expensive car, you should give them the time of day, and not automatically assume they're fishing for free joy ride. By no means was I looking for special treatment, but this dude just completely blew off my interest in the vehicle they had in stock and focused on the options they might have in the future, and I was told I'd get a text message "when they had something for me."
Horrible service, I cannot recommend them in good faith.
Edit: They called me, and apologized profusely, and asked if there was anything they could do to "make this right" because of this review. When I showed up unannounced, they immediately knew who I was and were extremely eager to let me test drive the vehicle.
It seems that they are hesitant to offer quality customer service unless you spell out your financials, at which point they roll out the red carpet. Otherwise, they profile you and will treat you as a financed sales metric.
Edit 2: I have since purchased a 2019 ZR1 from a different state through a private sale. 3 days later, Tradee reached out to me over the phone to tell me that the price of the white stingray I'd seen had dropped by several thousand dollars. It seems I was placed on some sort of repeat contact list. I told Tradee that I'd already purchased another vehicle, and he grew curt, it sounded like he started reading from a script, then he quickly ended the conversation.
